ÖV AR app for iPhone and iPad

ÖV or OeV is Swiss german short for public transportation. The most convenient way to travel around Switzerland.
ÖV AR shows you the nearest train and bus stops, bikesharing and carsharing stations in your surroundings through the lens of your iPhone camera.
Touch the desired stop and you will get an overview with the next departures. The timetable data comes from "opentransportdata.swiss" and is, where available, in real time.

How does it work:

- All public transport stops, bike- and carsharing stations within 500 meters will be displayed. If there is no stop or station in that perimeter the search radius will be expanded to 2 km (only train/bus stops). Further stops are currently not considered.

- The stops are automatically reloaded every 5 seconds. Accordingly, the distance to the stop shown is recalculated.

- The timetable is based on real-time data provided by “opentransportdata.swiss”, the open data platform for public transport in Switzerland. The next 30 departures will be displayed.

Limitations and known issues:

The positioning of the stops depends on the accuracy of the positioning by the iPhone. With good GPS reception, the positioning of the stops is accurate to within a few meters. In interiors or immediately after a restart of the device, the positions of the stops may differ from the actual coordinates.

The positions of the stops are based on the stop directory of the Swiss Federation (DiDok). Each stop may have several departure points for public transport. The coordinates of the stops are usually located in the center of all departure edges.

Stops lying in the same direction are stacked on top of each other. An improved presentation is currently in preparation.

Privacy:

Your location information will be temporarily stored on your device at the time of the query and compared to a database on your iPhone. For the timetable query your position will not be used, only the station number. No personal data from ÖV AR will be stored or shared with third parties.

Security Advice:

As intriguing as the Augmented Reality may be, do not forget that there may be other people besides you. Therefore, make sure that you do not collide with other people when moving with your mobile phone.

Do not use ÖV AR when crossing roads, driving a vehicle or other activities that require your full attention for your or your third partys safety.
